Connecticut Paranormal Encounters and Research

Connecticut Paranormal Encounters and Research (or C.P.E.A.R.) was formed in January 2008 by Carrie Kerns and Mike Mafera. The couple met online and shared their mutual interest in the paranormal which would eventually lead to a relationship and the formation of the CPEAR group. Initially formed as a family based paranormal group, CPEAR includes Mafera’s father Ray, and Kern’s teenage son Tyler. Additional members were added as the group progressed. Currently, CPEAR has 13 active investigators, with several prospective members who routinely contribute on larger investigations.

The main focus of CPEAR is to help people better understand what they are experiencing and to help them feel safe and comfortable in their own homes. They are also looking to provide guidance in dealing with paranormal activity as they further their own knowledge and collect concrete proof of hauntings.
